Well, not all the time, but in this particular application – where 4 people are collaboratively authoring one document – it clearly reduces the complexity of the process. The graphic, originally made for the US National Geospatial Intelligence Agency by Chris Rasmussen, then displayed in a post on the Wikinomics blog by Anthony Williams makes it all so clear.
